The Rejected Luna's Secret Pregnancy - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Selena’s POV
I lost the pregnancy. Bitterness pooled in my chest as I absentmindedly watched the healer, explaining that I would never get pregnant again as my womb was damaged beyond repair. It had taken a while before I was able to reach Beta Hugo for help. However, it was too late.
According to the healer, if I had gotten to the pack clinic on time, I wouldn’t have lost the pregnancy. That thought caused the bitterness to resurge again.
My phone pinged with a message from Zane. I’m taking Linda to our place. She’s pregnant, and it’s quite risky for her to be on her own. She needs constant attention.~
I clenched my jaw, resisting the urge to throw the phone against the wall. It was getting unbearable to live like this. I could see the pitying glances the healers were giving me as I insisted that they tell nobody about my pregnancy or miscarriage.
I guess they had also heard the rumours circulating around about Zane and Linda, especially from those that always watched Linda s WhatsApp status daily. I left the pack clinic the next morning when I was fully recovered, and Zane hadn’t even called or texted me to know where I was or if I was okay.
I stood at the door of our house with a furrow on my brow as the door didn’t open with my key. The door was locked- from the inside. I knocked a couple of times, but there was no response. I followed the back door of the house, and luckily it wasn’t locked from the inside.
I already knew what I would find when I entered, so there was nothing that could surprise me. They must have heard me coming in because as I entered our bedroom, it was only Zane in the room. He was sweating, and the room smelt of sex. It was quite obvious that he was having sex with Linda on our bed.
“Where have you been?” Zane queried, his eyes burning with frustration. I shrugged nonchalantly.
“Out” I replied flatly.
He spluttered in outrage, a vein throbbing in his forehead. “Out? Is that the reply you‘ re supposed to give me? Who do you think you are?” He barked.
I knew what he was trying to do, I knew the game he was trying and I was too exhausted, physically and mentally to play that game with him, so I ignored him and walked over to the bathroom.
Zane growled in anger from behind me, and he yanked me from behind, slamming me against the wall.
“Don’t you dare ignore me!” He gritted from clenched teeth.
I winced as pain flashed through my head and my back. Before I could respond, my eyes caught a pink material under the pillow.
“What’s that?” I asked, pointing at the pillow and he furrowed his eyebrows, turning his head, momentarily distracted.
“Huh?” He asked.
I took advantage of his distraction to stretch out my hand and pull out a pink lace bra that was obviously not mine. Immediately, the anger drained out of his face and his face fell in dismay.
“Umm…I….it‘ s….the…I…” he stammered nervously, sweat dripping down his head.
I cut off whatever bullshit excuse he was about to give me. “Look Zane, I’m tired, I’ve been at the pack clinic. I need to rest.” I tell him, and walk out of the room.
On my way out, I walked by Linda, who was in the kitchen rummaging through the cabinets. When she noticed me, she gave me a sly grin. “Good morning, Luna Selena. Can you prepare breakfast? I’m starving.” She said with a taunting look on her face.
I ignored her, barely reacting to her taunts, and I turned to walk away.
However, Zane was walking out of the bedroom at that same moment, probably to give me an explanation. Immediately Lindal saw him, her facial expression changed and tears welled up in her eyes.
“Zane!” She cried. “I want to leave, I want to go back to my place. Luna Selena is not okay with me here!” She sobbed.
At her words, Zane‘ s facial expression changed from guilty to angry. He was angry at me.
“Selena! Why are you doing this?!” He barked. “I told you why she was here!”
It was disgusting to watch as he rushed to console her. I simply turned and entered the other guest room in the house. Fortunately, Zane did not follow me to continue with his charade. There was not way I was going to sleep on the same bed that they had had sex on.
I shuddered in revolt at that thought. As I lay there that night, unable to sleep, I smiled because my plan was working.
