The Infertile Luna’s Revenge and the Alpha’s Regret - Chapter 72
Chapter 72
The fight was raging around her–wolves in battle, fur, and blood mingling with the cries of pain and fury that filled the air. Amelia’s body burned with the exertion of her Rising Moon Bloodline powers, each teleportation sapping more and more of her energy. She had to be careful; one wrong move, one misstep, and she might lose everything.
The Rogue King was relentless, his dark eyes gleaming with malicious intent as he attempted to overpower her at every turn. Amelia’s muscles screamed with fatigue, but she pushed through, refusing to let him win. She used her teleportation skill, flashing in and out of his reach, each time more precise than the last. She was learning to harness her power, her instincts guiding her through battle.
But just as she prepared for another strike, something unexpected happened, shadow darted past her–too fast to track. She thought she would be hit by it but. when she opened her eyes, there was none. But there was a scent, foul and unmistakable, filled the air.
Wolfbane.
She gasped in horror, but her senses. couldn’t focus. It was a damn poison! The Rogue King had used the venomous poison, and she hadn’t seen it coming. But it wasn’t her body that the poison had touched–it was Adam’s.
Adam.
She had never expected him to be here- not after everything that happened. She didn’t even know how he went to Shadow Pack’s battleground that fast. He was supposed to be at Lotus Pack, taking care of his dying mother! Amelia knew that the news about the Shadow Pack’s war against the rogue would travel fast, but she could not believe that Adam would come running there as soon as he heard it.
“Amelia!” His voice rang out with desperate urgency, cutting through the chaos of the battle. His eyes locked onto hers as he sprinted toward her, ignoring the danger of the situation. He was weaker than the Rogue King, but nothing could stop him. Not even his poison–infested body.
Before she could process his presence, Adam reached her just as the Rogue King‘ s poisoned claws slashed toward her. He pushed her aside, sacrificing himself. Amelia’s eyes widened in horror as she watched Adam take the full blow, the poison lacing through his chest.
“No!” Amelia screamed, her heart plummeting into her stomach. She rushed to his side, pulling him into her arms, but the damage was done. His breath came in ragged gasps, his face twisted in agony.
His eyes, though, remained locked on her. “Amelia,” Adam‘ s voice was strained, but it held a softness, a sincerity that had long been buried beneath years of pride and anger. “I’m sorry.”
The words cut through her like a knife. Adam‘ s expression softened, but his body was weakening. The poison was fast- acting, and even the strong wolf he was couldn’t fight it off.
“I should’ve valued you more,” he rasped, his fingers trembling as they brushed her face. “I… I shouldn’t have treated you like that.” His chest heaved, blood seeping through the gash where the poison had struck him.
Amelia‘ s heart twisted painfully. “Adam, damn it! Why would you sacrifice your life like this!” She gripped him tighter, her voice choked with emotion. “Please, why would you do this!”
But his eyes were already losing their light, and he struggled to smile, though it was faint. “I was wrong, Amelia… all along. I should’ve fought for you. I… I’m glad you found him. Logan will keep you safe… please don’t hate me.”
She couldn’t answer him. Her throat was tight, her chest full of grief. Despite everything–despite the bitterness and pain of their past–he was still apologizing, still trying to make things right.
“I’m sorry,” Adam whispered again, and then his body went limp in her arms. His breath stilled, his warmth fading. “I–I love you…”
“No!” Amelia screamed, pressing her forehead against his cold skin. Tears burned in her eyes, but she couldn’t shed them–not here, not now. Not with the battle still raging.
Logan appeared at her side then, his presence a constant, grounding force. His hand rested gently on her shoulder, but he didn’t say a word. He knew what she was feeling. He knew the weight of Adam’s death had hit her hard, and yet, the war was far from over.
“Amelia.” Logan’s voice was soft but firm. “We need to finish this.”
She nodded numbly, her body still trembling with grief. But she didn’t have time to mourn. Not yet. Not with the Rogue King still out there.
Logan and the Rogue King locked eyes across the battlefield, and without another word, they rushed toward each other. The air crackled with the intensity of their power, the earth itself trembling beneath their paws as they collided. Their wolves were fierce, claws raking through the air, fur flying as they fought for dominance.
Amelia, though still shaken by Adam‘ s death, knew she had to take action.
She felt the power coursing through her, felt the pull of the Rising Moon Bloodline deep within her. She couldn’t allow the Rogue King to escape this time. She could already feel her strength returning as her anger and grief fueled her desire to make this final strike.
Using her teleportation skill, she flashed behind the Rogue King, faster than he could react. He growled in frustration, but before he could strike, Amelia leaped forward, her claws sinking deep into his flesh.
“I’m here,” she whispered in his ear, her voice dripping with venom, mocking him. She twisted her body, landing another blow to his side, sending him crashing to the ground.
