The Infertile Luna’s Revenge and the Alpha’s Regret - Chapter 66
Chapter 66
FLASHBACK
It was a rare day of peace for Luna Camille and Alpha Caleb. They had rented the third villa, just beside the one Amelia’s family was renting, an old stone house, to celebrate Camille’s birthday. Their sons, Asher and Adam, were with them–young men now, but always their little boys in Camille’s eyes. The atmosphere was light and full of laughter, a rare escape from the duties of their positions in the pack.
Camille sat at the head of the table, her fingers gently tracing the rim of her glass as she listened to Adam and Asher bicker playfully. The warmth in her heart wast palpable, her eyes softening as she looked at her family. The last few years had been difficult for the Lotus Pack, but days like this made it all worthwhile. Alpha Caleb was beside her, his presence calm and reassuring. They had everything they needed.
Until the wolf guards burst through the door.
The disturbance was sudden and jarring. The door slammed open, the heavy footsteps of the guards almost shaking the walls. It was clear from the moment they entered that something was terribly wrong.
“Alpha, Luna, we need you,” one of the guards barked, his voice tense. He was a tall man with a scar across his face, his eyes filled with panic.
“What is it?” Caleb demanded, his voice low and commanding. There was no time for pleasantries, not with the urgency in the air.
“Rogue attack,” the guard responded, his breath coming fast. “But something’s wrong. It’s not just a rogue attack–it’s the Rogue King! I think he is aiming to kill you but he entered the wrong villa because the villas around are the same. He slaughtered the wrong people.”
The words hit Camille like a ton of bricks. Her heart skipped a beat as she looked between Caleb, Asher, and Adam. The weight of the information did not immediately register, but she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.
“The Rogue King?” Caleb muttered, eyes narrowing. The Rogue King was not just a rogue–he was a monster, a wolf who had killed more than anyone could count, hist presence a scourge on all packs.
“Where?”
“In the villa next to us,” the guard repeated. “They were after you, Luna Camille, and you, Alpha Caleb. There are casualties… bad casualties. The only survivor is at child.”
The shock hit Camille like a physical blow. Her knees wobbled beneath her. The room began to spin, and for a moment, she thought she might fall. But then she caught sight of Caleb’s face–his worry for her- and that grounded her.
She turned to the guard, her voice almost a whisper. “Who… who was it?”
“A family. The parents were killed, Lama. The child…” The guard hesitated, his voice faltering. “The child is the only survivor. It’s a girl. But…”
Camille s breath caught in her throat as she gripped the edge of the table to steady herself. The words that followed were more of a blur than anything else. She heard them, but they didn’t make sense.
“Her parents were killed and she was severely traumatized.”
“No…” Camille’s voice wavered, her heart hammering in her chest.
The guard bowed his head, too afraid to meet her eyes. “It seems the Rogue King was after you. He made a mistake. We ve already sent help to retrieve the child. She’s alive, Luna.”
It felt like the world tilted, like the earth itself was shifting beneath her. Camille felt a wave of dizziness wash over her again, this time accompanied by a cold chill.
She felt her knees buckle again. “No… this can’t be true.”
But it was. The news was devastating. Her world felt like it was unraveling, and all she could do was watch it slip away.
Someone just died because of them. She felt like she would be living in guilt from then on.
