The Infertile Luna’s Revenge and the Alpha’s Regret - Chapter 60
Chapter 60
The grand hall of the Shadow Pack‘ s packhouse was resplendent, draped in shimmering silver and gold. Chandeliers cast soft light over the assembled Alphas and their entourages, all gathered to witness the wedding of Alpha Logan and his fated mate, Amelia. The atmosphere. buzzed with excitement and warmth, the celebration a testament to Logan‘ s popularity and leadership.
Amelia stood in a quiet corner, her heart pounding beneath her elegant white gown. She had anticipated this day with nervousness and excitement, knowing it marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life. But as her gaze swept over the crowd, her breath hitched. There, amidst the smiling faces, stood Adam.
Her ex–husband.
He looked striking in a tailored suit, hist usual composed demeanor cracking under the weight of his piercing gaze. His expression was a volatile mix of anger and hurt, his eyes locked on her as though she were the only person in the room.
What is he doing here? she thought. She hadn’t expected Adam to attend, not after everything. In her mind, he would have sneered at the invitation, dismissed it with the same apathy he had shown during their marriage. But now, here he was, and the sight of him made her head full with unwelcome memories.
On the other hand, Adam clenched his fists as he watched Amelia from across the room. She looked radiant, every inch the Luna she was meant to be, and it infuriated him. He had spent weeks searching for her, regretting every moment he hadn’t cherished her, only to find her now dressed as a bride for another man.
When the crowd thinned slightly, he seized his chance, weaving through the guests until he stood before her. “Amelia,” he said, his voice low but sharp.
She turned to face him, her expression icy. “Alpha.”
His jaw tightened at her cold tone, but he pushed forward. “You‘ re getting married?” he demanded. “To him? I didn’t even agree to our divorce!”
Amelia‘ s lips curved into a mirthless smile. “It doesn’t matter whether you agree or not, Alpha. We both signed the papers. It’s done.”
“I didn’t know what I was signing!” he snapped. “You cheated me into signing it.”
She raised an eyebrow, her voice cutting.
“Oh, really? Weren’t you too busy chatting with your first love, Bridgette, to bother paying attention to what you were signing?”
His face flushed with guilt and anger. “Why, Amelia? Why did you want to divorce me?”
She crossed her arms, her stance firm..
“Because I did everything for the sake of the deal. To repay your mother‘ s kindness. That’s all it ever was.”
Adam’s breath hitched. “So all your kindness toward me, all those moments we shared, were just… gratitude? Nothing else?”
“Yes,” she said without hesitation. “I have never loved you, Adam. Not then, not now, and not in the future. Between us, there’s nothing but a debt repaid.”
Her words hit him like a blow to the chest, but before he could respond, a shadow loomed over them. Alpha Logan stepped forward, his presence commanding as he placed a protective hand on Amelia‘ s shoulder.
Logan’s deep voice rumbled. “Do not go near my bride.”
Adam’s eyes flared with fury. “She’s not your bride. She’s my wife!”
Logan’s expression darkened, his gaze narrowing. “Your wife? You mean the woman you neglected? The one you didn’t cherish when she was by your side?” He let out a bitter chuckle. “Amelia told me everything, Alpha Adam. You don‘ t deserve her.”
Adam’s fists clenched. “You don’t know anything about us.”
Logan took a step closer, his voice steady and laced with authority. “I know enough. If I had known her ex–husband was you, I wouldn’t have sent you an invitation. But now that you’re here, let me make this clear: Amelia is my mate, and I’ll protect her from anyone–including you.”
Before Adam could respond, Logan’s Beta approached. “Alpha,” he said, bowing slightly, “the ceremony is ready to begin.”
Logan nodded, his eyes never leaving Adam‘ s. “Let’s go,” he said to Amelia, his tone softening as he guided her toward the altar.
The ceremony was breathtaking. Amelia walked down the aisle, her arm looped through Logan‘ s as the crowd admired the radiant couple. Logan‘ s vows were heartfelt, his voice steady as he promised to protect, cherish, and honor Amelia for the rest of their lives. Amelia felt her heart swell with a mixture of gratitude and hope, her past with Adam fading further into the background with each passing moment.
As the officiant reached the climax of the ceremony, he smiled warmly. “You may now kiss the bride.”
Logan leaned forward, his eyes filled with warmth as he cupped Amelia’s face. Just as their lips were about to meet, a voice rang out, cutting through the joyous atmosphere.
“Stop!” Adam’s voice echoed in the hall.
Gasps rippled through the crowd as Adam pushed forward, his face contorted with desperation. “You can’t do this!” he shouted, his voice trembling with emotion.
“Amelia, please!”
Logan’s eyes hardened, and he turned to his guards. “Take him out.”
The guards rushed forward, grabbing Adam by the arms. He struggled against them, his fury spilling over as he glared at Logan. “You don’t deserve her!” he spat. “She’s mine!”
Logan didn’t flinch. Instead, he unleashed his Alpha aura, the room thick with his commanding presence. Adam faltered, his knees buckling slightly as the sheer power of Logan‘ s dominance overwhelmed him.
