Pregnant and Married to a Billionaire My Ex Cries in Regret - Chapter 8
I didn’t spare him another glance, simply waving my hand to signal the butler to throw him out. Then, I called Michael’s mother and asked her to get a doctor to take Michael for treatment immediately.
Once all that was done, Alex, freshly showered, pulled me into his arms, his eyes brimming with tears as he gazed at my face.
“I’m sorry, Sherry. I almost let him take you wife. I almost failed to away. I’m sorry, protect you.” He gently traced the red marks on my skin from where he had gripped me earlier, then went to fetch the first aid kit to treat the wounds.
“Wife, don’t worry. I won’t let Michael get away with this. If he dares show up again, I’ll feed him to the dogs!”
The Knight Family’s influence was just as powerful as the Lester Family’s. The next day, Alex struck hard at the leaderless Lester Family, causing their business to plummet and sending them to the edge of bankruptcy.
I smiled gently, brushing the furrow in his brow as I comforted him, “But I’m fine, right? And Michael got what he deserved.”
That’s right–Michael was beaten so badly that the doctor said even if he survived, he’d be left partially paralyzed.
This was the man who, just because of a few words from his “ideal woman,” abandoned me in a war–torn foreign land. The same man who, over a few mocking comments about my pregnancy, physically attacked me.
He even protected his “ideal woman” when my mother’s ashes were destroyed. Now, he was finally paying the price for everything.
A year later, I gave birth to our baby and Alex and I were playing with the child in the park when, to my surprise, we ran into Michael, who had been waiting for us.
A year had passed and the man before me was no longer the confident, proud figure he once was. Now, Michael looked haggard and pale, his once strong frame now gaunt and skeletal. He sat slumped in a wheelchair, shrinking, back like a frightened quail.
When he saw me, a faint flush colored his face. “Sherry, I’ve missed you so much. Did you miss me?”
“I know I was wrong about everything before,” he continued, his voice trembling. “I’ve already kicked Patricia out. I won’t see her again. I’m really trying to make amends.”
As he spoke, Michael looked at me with the pain in his eyes, his voice choking as he said, “Sherry, I truly regret everything. Will you come back to me?”
Before I could respond, Alex pulled me into se his arms, his voice cold and firm. “Mr. Lester, do you enjoy pursuing another man’s wife?”
“Too bad, Sherry is already my wife. As for you, Mr. Lester, you should be more concerned with whether you’ll ever be able to stand again.”
Michael’s face turned pale, inch by inch, but his eyes were still fixed on me, filled with deep, unresolved frustration. “Sherry, I don’t believe it. I can’t believe you really don’t love me anymore.”
“We grew up together, we loved each other for ten years and we’ve been through so much. I truly loved you.”
“I swear, I won’t see Patricia again. I’ll stop caring about Alex. Sherry, if you‘ 11 come back to me, you’ll always be the one and only Mrs. Lester. I’ll never marry anyone else for the rest of my life.”
“Sherry, please forgive me. I swear I’ll treat you well.”
His gaze was serious, each word firm, his eyes full of deep affection. Was this really the same Michael who used to be so high and mighty, decisive and ruthless?
This was probably the first time Michael had humbled himself so much, but I wasn’t moved in the slightest.
He had hurt me too much for a simple apology to make a difference. If I forgave him, how could I face the Sherry who had suffered so much in the past?
I nestled in Alex‘ s arms, looking down at the man, whose eyes were red from pleading and said seriously, “Michael, I’ve told you many times–I don‘ t love you anymore. We have nothing between us.”
“I’m happy with my husband now. Your misguided feelings only bring me trouble. When will you finally accept the truth?”
