Pregnant and Married to a Billionaire My Ex Cries in Regret - Chapter 6
With that, Michael reached out to grab my arm.
Bam!
Alex kicked Michael to the ground, his eyes flashing with warning. “Sherry is my wife. If you dare to keep bothering her, I won’t let you off!”
Michael lay there for a moment, stunned, before slowly lifting his gaze, disbelief written all over his face.
“You–you’re just a hired actor and you dare to hit me?” At this point, he still thought I was pretending.
I furrowed my brow, unable to tolerate it any longer. “This is Alex Knight, my legal husband. Not some hired actor. Please stop deluding yourself. Our engagement has been called off.”
“No… no way… You‘ re lying, aren’t you?!” Michael muttered, his face pale, like a husband who had just discovered his wife’s affair.
But the truth was, he was the one who had cheated and now he was trying to blame me. After calling security to remove Michael, I quickly followed my husband back to Enscaster.
Lying on the rocking chair at the Knight family estate, basking in the sunlight and inhaling the fragrance of exotic flowers, I felt at peace. With just a wave of my hand, I could have the finest Michelin–starred pastries delivered.
I couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. This was the life I was meant to live–finally free from that chaotic couple.
I placed my hand gently on my belly. Five months along now, my bump was starting to show and the baby was healthy and strong.
Just as I was settling into the peace, the butler hurried in, his face flustered. “Madam, there’s a man outside claiming to be… your fiancé.”
Before I could even refuse, Michael‘ s disheveled figure appeared before me.
The man looked haggard, his once–neatly styled hair now a mess, his eyes bloodshot, filled with fury. He gritted his teeth and demanded, “Sherry, how dare you leave the country without a word? If I hadn’t come to find you, would you have just left without ever seeing me again?”
This was the first time I had seen Michael in such a pitiful state. I instinctively protected my belly, watching him warily. “What do you want?”
This man was dangerous–he had hurt me, betrayed me. This time, I would make sure to protect myself and the baby.
He noticed the open wariness on my face and gave a self–deprecating smile. “Are you that afraid of me? I thought, after ten years of us being together, you’d be happy to see me come to you.”
‘Ten years of being together?‘ I couldn’t believe Michael had the nerve to say that.
For those ten years, he arrogantly believed he had me under control, casually trampling on my sincerity, turning a blind eye to Patricia’s bullying and even defending her when she disrespected my mother by scattering her precious belongings.
This was supposed to be “love for ten years“?
“I already made it clear, Michael. Our engagement has been annulled. We have no connection anymore.”
“No, I don’t believe it!”
Michael shot back, his voice firm, but tears kept streaming from his eyes. “You’ve always loved me. Every time, you’ve unconditionally given in. I don’t believe you could suddenly stop loving me!”
This man knew I loved him. He knew I always yielded to him without question. And yet, he still took advantage of my love, acting with such carelessness.
I let out a cold laugh, mocking him. “You know perfectly well I always gave in to you. I’m the one who always suffered, always bearing the pain.”
“Why do you think I would keep following you like a fool?”
Michael was taken aback, opening his mouth but unable to speak.
“Michael, you know exactly what I’ve endured. You just choose to play dumb, selfishly enjoying my kindness and Patricia‘ s childish antics.”
“When she harassed me, made my life harder and destroyed my mother’s ashes -where were you then? Yet every time, you chose to defend her and hurt me!”
