Only Ten Years - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Thanks to Caleb, I barely saw Liam. I gave him a raise and a 2% commission on top of his year–end bonus.
Caleb nodded and gave me a cup of hot lemon water, with a heating pad for my stomach. I facepalmed myself. I finally knew why I’d been so irritated lately. My period was coming.
I plopped down on the couch, and Caleb laid out my meal in front of me.
“Hey, this isn’t what I usually have!”
Caleb handed me a fork and spoon. “This is chicken soup I made. Try to stay off takeout for a few days.”
I sighed, homemade food was hard to reject. But I was trying to diet! Caleb had already filled a bowl and passed it to me.
“I skimmed the fat. It won’t make you gain weight.”
“Whoever marries you is going to be the luckiest person on the planet,” I said.
Caleb was watching me eat, a strange look flashed on his face He opened his mouth, but he was interrupted.
“Mommy! Mommy!”
“Jane! Me and your son came to see you!”
The kid and Chet ran up to me, but Caleb held them back.
“Mommy, can we go to the amusement park?” The kid grabbed my leg.
I tried to smile as I was clutching my stomach.
“Maybe another day. Mommy’s not feeling well.”
The kid tilted his head and said, “You’re going to have a baby, right?”
He patted my stomach. “You’re finally going to give daddy a baby girl!”
I glared at Chet, who was pretending to be invisible in the corner. Caleb grabbed the kid and dragged him outside.
“Uncle Caleb has some summer homework for you.”
When he came back, I had just yelled at Chet. Caleb saw Chet reaching for my soup, and
swooped in.
“Caleb, what do you think you’re doing?” Chet glared at him.
Caleb was expressionless.
“This soup will make your tail shrink.”
“WHAT!”
