My Husband Forced Me to Give My Womb to His Lover - Chapter 3
“Oh!” The employee who was still sympathetic immediately changed his face and spat at my body: “This kind of mistress who destroys other people’s families deserves to die.”
It was late when Liam suddenly remembered he hadn’t checked on Grace. He stood up, saying goodbye to Chloe’s parents. “Mom, Dad, you guys stay with Chloe. I’m gonna go see Grace.”
Chloe’s eyes immediately welled up. “Liam, can’t you stay?”
“Chloe,” Liam said, his voice dripping with sympathy. He wanted to refuse, but Chloe cut him off.
“Liam, have you forgotten? When your business was on the brink of collapse, I wired you money to help you out.”
“To get that money, I was working three jobs and even selling plasma,” Chloe said, tears welling up. “Have you forgotten?”
Liam sighed. Of course, he remembered. When Brad handed him that wire transfer slip, he silently vowed to himself that he would repay Chloe, no matter what.
After Chloe came back sick, he hired the best doctors and teams to find a solution for her. Until Chloe cried and said that only Grace could save her.
Liam sighed again. Now that Chloe was saved, would he and Grace finally be able to put this behind them?
With that thought in mind, he spent the next two weeks by Chloe’s side. Occasionally, he wondered what Grace was up to, if she was still mad at him.
Thinking of this, he’d personally pick out jewelry, accessories, and desserts that Grace used to like and send them to Grace’s room. But no matter what messages he sent Grace, she never replied.
He couldn’t help but feel a little frustrated. He’d already given Grace an out, so why was she still being so stubborn?
Over the years whenever she had problems with his adopted parents, did she never consider the reason?
If she were a little softer, a little more humble, if she had been more tolerant of Chloe when they came home, would she have been resented by her own parents for so long?
He sighed, rubbed his temples, and said to Chloe’s parents, “Mom, Dad, I’m with Chloe. Do you guys want to go see Grace?”
The parents, who had been all smiles, immediately frowned.
“Grace probably doesn’t want us to see her,” Chloe’s father said, his voice low. “After she drove Chloe away, I hit her. She’s been holding a grudge ever since and won’t come home anymore.”
“I’m not going,” Chloe’s mother said. “She gave her uterus to Chloe as repayment. I’m going to let her suffer a little so she won’t keep bullying Chloe when she comes home.”
Hearing Chloe’s mother say that Grace could come home, Liam’s tight frown finally relaxed.
“Don’t worry, she won’t dare anymore,” he said. As he spoke, there was a knock on the door from the media.
“Mr. Thompson, we’re the media you scheduled to interview.”
Liam remembered that the company had come up with a plan to have the media interview Liam and his wife to coincide with Valentine’s Day.
Liam had agreed because he hadn’t introduced Grace to the media and the outside world in years. But he didn’t expect to run into surgery.
He waved his hand. “I’m sorry, my wife just had surgery, so she probably can’t be interviewed.”
“It won’t be too disruptive,” the reporter said with a smile. “We’ll just say hello to the viewers on the livestream, which will show your affection for your wife.”
“We’ve been teasing the event for a few days, and viewers are saying how sweet you and your wife are in the photos of you holding her in the hospital bed.”
The smile froze on Liam’s face. He hadn’t even seen Grace, so when did he take pictures with her?
“You must be mistaken…”
Before he could finish, the reporter had already turned on the camera and pointed it at Chloe:
“Mrs. Thompson, hello. Mr. Thompson has put aside all his work to be with you since your surgery. What do you have to say about that?”
Chloe’s cheeks flushed red, and she shyly glanced at Liam before sweetly greeting the camera: “Hello, everyone.”
“I’m very touched,” she put her hand on her stomach, “Liam is already thirty, and I want to give him a gift.”
The reporter said with a smile, “The comments are praising you two for being so loving, and some people are asking if you have children…”
“Enough!” Liam blocked the camera.
The reporter and Chloe both froze. Liam’s face was angry and confused. “She’s not my wife, where did you hear all this gossip?”
The reporter was confused. “Didn’t you admit it yourself?”
“When did I say that?” Liam said, his voice rising, “To protect my wife’s privacy, I’ve never revealed her identity.”
The reporter looked at Chloe, who was pale, with suspicion.
“This is my wife’s sister,” Liam explained, “She’s not married yet, so don’t say things randomly.”
“Huh?” The reporter was surprised. “But the photos of you and her were posted on your official account, and the caption said that a good thing was coming, so viewers wanted to know if the good thing you were talking about meant having a baby…”
Liam’s heart tightened, and he immediately pulled out his phone. Sure enough, in the days account had actually posted the pictures. It was a candid shot of him holding Chloe.
He was furious.
“Get the person who took this photo and delete it immediately.”
The person in question was found, looking confused.
“We didn’t make it up, didn’t you say this room was for Mrs. Thompson?”
“Besides, you never denied it when we called Chloe Mrs. Thompson.”
“You’ve been with Chloe all the time.”
Liam’s veins were throbbing, he wanted to get angry, but he didn’t know who to be angry with.
He could only say in a dark tone, “Don’t say that again, my wife is Grace! The donor of this surgery.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a file in the hands of a nurse fell to the ground with a thud. Liam looked over and saw that the pale nurse looked familiar.
“You…”
His eyes were suddenly drawn to the necklace around her neck.
“Where did you get the necklace around your neck?”
His heart sank. This necklace was clearly a gift he’d asked Brad to give to Grace a few days ago as a way to apologize. How could it be on a nurse’s neck now?
A picture suddenly flashed in his mind. That’s right, this nurse, she was the one pushing a body away when he met her that day. His heart was seized, and a bad thought kept circling in his mind.
“That day, the body you pushed away, who was it?”
He grabbed the nurse’s shoulders and demanded, “Whose was it?! Could it be…”
“Mr. Thompson,” Brad stopped him.
“Where’s Grace? Why is the gift I asked you to give Grace on her?”
“It’s not my business, it’s not my business,” the nurse said in tears, “I picked it up.”
“The madame threw all the gifts away,” Brad said slowly.
Liam slowly let go of her hand, as if relieved. “I’m sorry,”
He couldn’t hide the fatigue and displeasure on his face. “Grace is too thoughtless, she almost made me think something happened to her…”
“Where is she now? Did she go home?”
Brad hesitated. “Well, I don’t know…”
“Why doesn’t she know she’s wrong yet?!”
He bypassed Brad and planned to talk to Grace in person. But after asking around, no one knew where Grace lived.
“All the patients in the VIP ward checked out a few days ago, except for Ms. Thompson’s room.”
