Love’s Mark - Chapter 24
Then he found my diary in the drawer.
Opening it, seeing his name on every page, Shane broke down again.
Because I wrote in my diary: “Shane, we’ll be together forever.” “Shane, you promised me, you’d love me forever.”
“Shane, how could you have another woman behind my back?” “Shane, will you only be happy when I’m dead?”
Those were questions that once troubled me, but now I know the answer.
Thanks to Shane’s care, Grandma was very happy.
I continued to stay by her side, watching this lovely little old lady.
One day, Grandma grabbed Shane’s hand, staring at him and saying, “Holly had a daughter for you.” She took out an ultrasound image from a box.
Shane froze, trembling, his voice hoarse, “We have a daughter? Grandma, where is she now?” No matter how much he asked, Grandma didn’t know.
And at that moment, my head buzzed.
I remembered the most important person I’d forgotten, besides Grandma, our daughter.
On his birthday, besides the gift, I was going to tell him I was pregnant.
But the next day, we broke up.
I didn’t want to keep the baby, but thinking of the little life.
I gritted my teeth and gave birth.
Who knew, the baby was only a few months old when this happened.
After I died, Grandma fell ill.
An elderly woman with a baby, ill, couldn’t raise her.
The community decided to send the baby to an orphanage.
I lost those memories, including which orphanage the baby went to.
Then, I saw Xu Mei imprisoned, sentenced to life without parole.
I knew it was the best Shane could do.
Making sure Xu Mei wouldn’t die, but couldn’t get out either.
I also saw Shane reburial my body; the tombstone read ‘My Wife, Holly‘.
