The divorce proceedings weren’t over yet.

I left the city and moved to Beijing.

A former colleague told me that Emma was still clinging to Jack, waiting for him outside the office every evening after work.

After the video of Jack and Emma was exposed, Jack’s reputation and authority within the company took a serious hit.

My departure also caused trouble for the business. Many of the clients I had personally managed ended their contracts when they expired.

As a result, Jack was completely overwhelmed during this time.

Watching the company Jack and I had built together slowly fall apart left me with a mix of emotions.

The man sitting across from me noticed I was lost in thought and spoke up:

“Do you want to help? Not him, but your former company.”

I politely shook my head:

“No need, thank you.”

Seeing my refusal, Peter didn’t push further. Instead, he casually invited me to a concert tomorrow night.

When I looked down at the VIP tickets he handed me, I remembered that Vance Joy was performing in Beijing the next evening.

When Jack and I had just graduated, Vance Joy had a concert in our city. We were broke back then, so we listened from outside the venue.

We promised each other that, once we had money, we’d definitely get front-row tickets.

But as we started to earn more, Jack had lost interest in keeping that promise.

I agreed to go with Peter.

After the concert, I unexpectedly ran into someone familiar.

Jack’s eyes lit up when he saw me, and he immediately tried to reach for me.

But Peter subtly stepped in front of me, blocking Jack.

I tugged on Peter’s sleeve.

“It’s fine, he’s just a stranger.”

“Let’s go.”

With that, I took Peter’s hand and walked away without looking back.
