I Married My Ex’s Worst Enemy - 0029_Chapter_29
Chapter 29
Chapter 29 My Legs Feel Weak
Gemma came downstairs at a heavy walk with her head down.
Yolanda rushed over. Instead of asking her how it was, Yolanda pulled
her out.
When they were in a café, Gemma regained some of her senses, so
Yolanda asked her what Markus had said.
Yolanda
“He said he’d never seen an actress ruin her own career like me,” Gemma
sobbed.
“And?”
“I kept begging him. Maybe he felt pity for me, so he agreed to let the newbie at Skyline Entertainment audition. There’s nothing I can do if Skyline Entertainment wants more.”
Yolanda held Gemma’s hand and squeezed it. “It’s OK. Take it a step at a time.”
After the closets and other furniture were sent over to the villa, it would be dirty and untidy. Besides, Yolanda was going away with Antwan and Jaslyn.
Thinking for a while, Yolanda called and asked Kieran to rent a house for Gemma and take care of Gemma while she was away.
Kieran owned a vacant house, so he gave Gemma an address and told Gemma to live there as long as she wanted.
Gemma hugged Yolanda. “Yola, thank you.”
“Sure. You are my best friend.”
In the afternoon, Yolanda left with Antwan and Jaslyn in the same car.
When Yolanda got in, Jaslyn was leaning in Antwan’s arms and kissing his chin. He was putting on a coat on her.
Yolanda sat across from them and stared at them showing affection.
She would make them realize three was a crowd. As expected, they stopped what they were doing.
“Yolanda, we’re going to an island.” Jaslyn straightened up and smiled.
Yolanda nodded. “Great. I haven’t been to an island.‘
“I
“There are many interesting places there. You can check them out when we are there.”
“OK.”
Yolanda wasn’t embarrassed at all, so Jaslyn was displeased.
After a 2–hour drive and a half–hour sail, they got to the island.
Yolanda was seasick, so she leaned against a tree to retch.
“Are you OK?” Antwan came over and asked.
Yolanda ignored him and went forward with her baggage.
The island was not big. She could only see a white house along the
way.
Yolanda got to the beach house before Antwan and Jaslyn did. But she didn’t expect Sidney to greet her.
Sidney smiled at her. “Yolanda. Welcome to my birthday party.”

Yolanda frowned, but she didn’t care. “I’m feeling sick and want to take a
rest.”
“There are no vacant rooms for you. You can stay there with the servants.”
The place Sidney pointed at was a row of thatched huts for the servants.
Sidney was probably meaning to humiliate Yolanda, but Yolanda didn’t mind living there with the servants.
A maid named Paige Baxter led Yolanda to her room while introducing the interesting places on the island enthusiastically.
“Is there only one house on the island?” Yolanda asked.
“Yes. This is a private island, and that is a private house. We don’t know if the island will be developed.”
There were 2 beds in the room. One was for Paige, and the other was for Yolanda.
She felt very dizzy, so she took a pill and slept. When she woke up, night had fallen.
She got out of the room while people were having a party in the villa. The music was cheerful and deafening. Men in suits and women in cocktail dresses were dancing to it.
They were the so–called upper class. Yolanda saw Antwan holding Jaslyn and dancing with her in the center of the dance floor.
There was a path down the beach.
Yolanda went back to put on a coat and a scarf and went down the path. Not long after, she heard something intimate. Then, she saw a woman and a man making out on a thatched pavilion.

She rushed by them and soon arrived at the beach.
She was alone there with some lights. The waves were roaring against the shore, which was awe–inspiring, especially at night.
Her phone chimed. She knew who it was, so she took out her phone quickly
Brent said, “We’ve had a fruitful meeting all day. My colleagues seem to
like me.”
Yolanda laughed. “OK. Be friendly to them.”
Brent added, “I bought them drinks tonight, but they seemed restrained.”
Yolanda responded, “They just knew you, after all.”
Brent asked, “Where are you?”
Yolanda took a video and sent it to him. “On an island. It’s sort of a business trip.”
She waited for a long while but didn’t get his reply. Maybe he was busy.
Thus, she took a walk along the coastline with her hands in her pockets. When she got to the dock, she saw a tall man climbing down a yacht.
“Somebody help!” he exclaimed in pain while holding his left leg and turning over on the sand.
Yolanda ran over.
“What happened? Did your leg get injured?”
“A venomous snake bit me. Help me!”
Yolanda hastened to take out her flashlight and told him to hold it for her.

Then, she lifted his left leg and rolled up his trouser leg. There were 2 rows of jagged teeth marks on his ankle, but no swelling or bruises. And he didn’t have symptoms like nausea, dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
“Did you see what kind of snake bit you?” she asked.
“Yes, but not clearly.”
“How long has it been since you were bitten?”
“It bit me on the island over there. I need to get down the mountain and drive the yacht back. Maybe over an hour.”
“Does it hurt?”
“Yes, it hurts so much.”
Yolanda asked him to lie down and said he should feel lucky that she had antidote ointment with her that would relieve pain fast. Meanwhile, she dipped her finger in a puddle and rubbed it against his injury.
“The ointment has been applied. Does it still hurt?”
“N–No, I think.”
Yolanda clapped her hands. “No worries. The snake isn’t venomous.”
“How can you be sure?”
“I’m a doctor,” Yolanda answered and looked up.
Only then did she see the man’s face. He was a mixed–race man with blue eyes, a tall nose, and fair skin.
“Mr. Patton?”
Konnor’s eyes narrowed. “You finally recognized me?”
“Sorry, I didn’t pay attention to your face.”
“You are a woman who ignores my handsome face.”
Yolanda didn’t acknowledge his comment. “You can get up.”
Konnor tried, to no avail.
“I can’t. My legs feel weak.”
Yolanda thought he was too scared to stand up, so she thought for a while and said, “Wait here. I’ll fetch some people from the villa to help you.”
Konnor should be Sidney’s distinguished guest, but Yolanda told Paige to let Sidney know about that instead of telling Sidney directly.
Paige shouted right away, “Somebody help. Something happened to our boss!”
Hearing the last word, Yolanda asked, “Who’s this house’s owner?”
“The Patton family.”
It turned out that Sidney borrowed the beach house for her birthday party. But she acted like she was the owner.
Paige went to Konnor with some other people. Instead of going with them, Yolanda detoured back to the beach to continue the walk.
Brent finally replied, “Are you alone?”
Yolanda answered, “Yes.”
Brent asked, “Isn’t it boring?”
Yolanda responded, “It’s OK.”
Brent said, “Let’s play a game.”
