Chapter 26
Chapter 26 Aunt Yolanda
The liquor was strong, burning Yolanda’s throat with just one glass. Gemma was wasted yet still grabbed more drinks.
Seeing this, Yolanda took a deep breath. Just as she was about to pour another glass, Sidney stopped her.
“Yolanda, come on. This is a classy event. You should know your place. Don’t think you’re impressing anyone by drinking for her!” Sidney sneered.
Elvis frowned, “You can’t say this. We’re all friends here.”
“Not everyone is worthy of being called a friend,” Sidney shot back. “Don’t say they are my friends. It’s so embarrassing!”
“Yolanda, I’m sorry, but there’s no room for you here. Why don’t you take your drinks outside? It’s my treat,” Jaslyn offered, trying to be nice.
But it was a clear humiliation.
“Get out!” Antwan snapped.
Yolanda clenched her jaw. “Gemma, let’s go.”
She tried to guide Gemma away, but Gemma shrugged her off and grabbed another glass. “M–Mr. Patton, I’ll toast to you…”
She was wasted, her vision all blurry. She raised her glass toward the fruit stand beside her, but Yolanda grabbed her glass and turned to toast Konnor.
“Mr. Patton, I’ll take this for her,” Yolanda said and drained it in one go.
“Yolanda! You really don’t get it. How dare you…” Before Sidney finished her words, Konnor stood up sharply.
He lifted his glass, tapped it against Yolanda’s empty one, and drained it in one go.
“This is a drink from a lovely lady. I can’t say no to that.” Konnor’s eyes sparkled, a grin tugging at his lips.
Konnor wasn’t an easygoing person and didn’t show respect to others. Sidney and Jaslyn had just toasted him, but he hadn’t taken a sip.
“Here’s a toast to you,” Konnor said, putting down his empty glass, picking up another full one, and raising it in a toast.
Yolanda always felt Konnor was a bit off. But since he respected her, she had to go with it. She quickly grabbed another glass. Just as she was about to drink, Antwan walked over.
“She has low alcohol tolerance. I’ll drink it on her behalf,” said Antwan.
Seeing him reach for it, Yolanda dodged and quickly drank it down.
Antwan’s face clouded over. He was clearly irritated. “Don’t make a fool of yourself here. You should leave.”
Yolanda frowned, “Are you sick? It’s not your concern if I make a fool of myself.”
Antwan snapped, “You made me look bad!”
Yolanda shot back, “If you are sick, go see a doctor. Don’t make me sick!”
“You!” Antwan took a deep breath, stepped in front of Yolanda, and then looked at Konnor. “She’s not important. Let’s get back to our conversation.”

“But I really enjoy chatting with Ms. Nielsen,” Konnor said, grinning.
“She’s not in our circle,” said Antwan.
Konnor pretended to be confused. “Which circle are we in?”
Antwan pursed his lips. He knew that Konnor was making a scene.
“Mr. Gilmore, could you add two seats for these lovely ladies?” Konnor asked Elvis.
Elvis glanced at Antwan and nodded. “Sure, I’ll get some chairs.”
With Konnor’s approval, he not only added seats for Yolanda and Gemma but also made sure Yolanda sat next to Konnor. Antwan looked at them, his face darkening.
Jaslyn nudged Antwan and then smiled, “Mr. Patton, let me introduce you. These are our college classmates. This is Gemma Werner. She was an actress before. This is Yolanda Nielsen, a doctor.”
Konnor shook hands with Gemma first, making her eyes go wide. Then he shook Yolanda’s hand, gripping just a little harder.
Yolanda frowned and pulled her hand away.
Konnor chuckled, “Dr. Nielsen, since you dare to sit here, you should be ready.”
“Ready for what?” Yolanda turned serious.
“Of course, it’s…” Konnor paused for effect and then laughed, “for the drinks.”
This guy!
Yolanda gritted her teeth. He seemed to enjoy teasing her!

“Mr. Patton, I’ll toast to you,” Jaslyn stood up and raised her glass to Konnor.
Konnor waved her off. “We’re all friends here. No need to be so formal. Just call me Konnor.”
Jaslyn’s smile grew wider at his words. She was about to down the drink when Antwan stopped her, taking the glass instead. “You’re pregnant. You can’t drink.”
Jaslyn looked apologetic and said to Konnor, “Konnor, I’m really sorry. I really can’t drink.”
“If you can’t really drink, why bother holding a party? There’s no point if others drink on your behalf.” Konnor’s smile faded.
Sidney quickly spoke up for Jaslyn, “We were just talking about the new project at Glory Films. Jaslyn is really interested in a role in it. It’s kind of a supporting character. Honestly, she’s way too big for that role, but she loves it. Could you help her out and put in a good word for her? We’re old classmates, after all.”
Konnor nodded. “So this is your purpose.”
Sidney said, “It’s really not a big deal for you.
“It’s really no big deal,” said Konnor.
“So, what do you say?” asked Sidney eagerly.
Konnor said, “Doesn’t the director have open auditions? If she wants it, she should just give it a try.”
Sidney was stunned. Yet, she didn’t give up. “Jaslyn is a famous actress now. Do you want her to compete with newbies for a role? It’s cool if she wins. But if she loses, the haters will throw mud at her.”

Konnor mocked, “Maybe her acting skills suck if she doesn’t win.”
This hit Jaslyn hard, and she almost lost it.
“By the way, Ms. Nielsen, your friend is an actress too?” Konnor asked
Yolanda.
Yolanda nodded. “Yeah, she also wants to join your crew.”
Hearing this, Sidney snorted, “Who does she think she is? Even Jaslyn has to audition for this crew. It shows how impressive the crew is. She is a nobody. Does she think she can just walk in?”
Yolanda just heard that Jaslyn got rejected. Now she felt like she might be in over her head.
She glanced at Gemma, who was so wasted that she could barely hold herself together. Staying in her seat was the best she could do.
“Can my friend have an audition too?” she asked.
Sidney sneered, “There are rules for auditions. Not everyone can…”
“I’ll talk to the director. Why don’t you add me on WhatsApp? Once I set it up, I’ll tell you,” Konnor directly ignored Sidney and talked to Yolanda.
Hearing this, both Sidney and Jaslyn looked at each other in disbelief.
Konnor said he would talk to the director, and it was as if he had just promised to get Gemma into the crew because the director wouldn’t turn him down.
They had been begging for days, and Yolanda made it happen with just one sentence?
After hesitating for a moment, Yolanda added Konnor on WhatsApp.
Konnor said, “Ms. Nielsen, grab a bite first. Then we’ll keep drinking.”
When they left, Yolanda was tipsy but still helped Gemma outside. Caiden was waiting and quickly helped them into the car.
After closing the car door, Caiden ran to Konnor. “Did you get Ms. Nielsen drunk?”
“Yep.” Konnor smiled knowingly.
“Wait for Mr. Odom to teach you a lesson,” said Caiden.
Konnor glanced at the car window and clicked his tongue. “Aunt Yolanda
is really cute.”
