Chapter 16

What happened?

Cruz chuckled self–deprecatingly, “Nicole left, and now I can’t find her. The one who forced her to leave was Angela, she was right under my nose, constantly targeting Nicole, forcing her not to come back to me!”

When this was revealed, it shocked everyone. They never expected Angela to be like this.

However, if Cruz didn’t want a divorce, why did he keep bringing it up every time, and even insisted that Nicole beg him to withdraw the application before he would agree?

Everyone looked at each other, all thinking about the question, but Cruz’s current situation simply did not allow them to say much. They could only comfort Cruz casually.

In the end, Cruz drank all the wine by himself, staggering down the street and then getting a ride back to the villa in his assistant’s car.

The scene of devastation from that day had been cleaned up, but the room. still remained empty as usual, with no sign of anyone else, not even Nicole. The room, which had been tossed and turned repeatedly, had long lost her warmth, and now not even a single strand of hair could be found.

Cruz walked in, sat on the edge of the bed, and thought about many things.

From the first time he got angry, Nicole started trying to please him, and he became addicted to that feeling. Watching the person he liked go to great lengths just to make him smile, Cruz’s heart was filled with vanity.

Eventually, his demands became more and more unreasonable. He wanted to see how far Nicole would go for him, and how precious her love really

was.

Even though he told himself every time that he shouldn’t go too far, but ast soon as he saw Nicole, his inner darkness took over and he couldn’t control himself. He wanted to see her kneeling in front of him, he wanted. to see her jealous and envious, he wanted to see her willing to sacrifice even her life for him.

But now, Nicole has stepped out of this ridiculous game, only then did he realize how foolish his past actions were.

If he were given another chance, he would definitely not have asked for a divorce.

Cruz sat on the edge of the bed all night. The next day, the assistant walked over.

“Mr. Yarbrough, it’s been three days already, Ms. Simpson… if she doesn’t come out soon, she won’t make it.”

Reminded, Cruz only then remembered that Angela was still locked in the confinement room. Thinking of her, a hint of disgust crossed his eyes. If it weren’t for her stirring up trouble behind the scenes, how could Nicole

have been forced to leave!

Cruz stood up, with no warmth in his eyes.

“Let’s go and see her.”

They arrived at the confinement room, and as soon as the assistant opened the door, a scream came from inside.

“I was wrong, I know I was wrong!”

“Don’t lock me up, I know I was wrong, I know I was wrong!”

“Ah!!”

Angela huddled in the corner, holding her head, the confinement room filled with a foul stench. She seemed oblivious to it, muttering to herself

incessantly.

After a while, she finally noticed that there seemed to be light in front of her. Angela looked up and saw the wide–open door and Cruz outside. She rushed towards him as if grasping at a lifeline, grabbing onto Cruz’s pant leg and crying bitterly.

J’Cruz, I know I was wrong! I shouldn’t have threatened Nicole, please forgive me, I really know I was wrong!”

She spent three days and three nights in the confinement room, which was more terrifying than any punishment she had received before. She cried and begged, her face full of tears.

Looking at the once beautiful face, Cruz’s eyes were filled with disgust as he kicked Angela away.

“I have said that your punishment will not stop until Nicole returns. Since you had the audacity to force Nicole to divorce me in the first place, today you should know that all of this is the retribution you deserve.”

He said these words emotionlessly, leaving Angela staring at him in

disbelief.

It seemed that after confirming that Cruz had no pity for herself at all, she suddenly broke down.

She and Cruz were childhood friends, they had known each other since. they were young. She liked Cruz more than anyone else for a long time, so why does she have to endure this torment just because of a Nicole! Why does Cruz have to look at her with that kind of gaze!
