Finally We Got Lost - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
After that night, Kaylee became the little princess of the elite circles. Numerous media outlets reported on her, and she quickly became a hot topic among Italians.
Kaylee had left Vincent behind and stepped into her happiness. Meanwhile, Vincent’s life descended into chaos without her. Upon learning that Kaylee’s parents in Green County had passed away, all leads to her whereabouts were cut off. Kaylee’s phone remained unreachable.
Desperate, he returned to their school to search for her. The library, cafeteria, sports field, and the lake behind the campus–he searched everywhere. He even asked the teachers and classmates Kaylee often spoke with.
But no one had any idea where she had gone. He had completely lost contact with Kaylee. Standing in the middle of the vast campus, Vincent felt lost and helpless. Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder.
He turned around, his heart leaping with hope, only to be met with disappointment once again. Alina stood before him, concern etched on her face.
“Senior, why haven’t you been to the lab these past few days? I messaged you, but you‘ didn’t reply. Did something happen? Or is Kaylee upset with you because of what happened last time?”
“If she wants to blame someone, let her blame me instead.”
Her tone was considerate and understanding, but Vincent no longer had his usual warmth for her. Instead, he created a bit of distance between them.
“I already have a girlfriend. If it’s not about lab work, please don’t message me again. My girlfriend would get upset.”
Alina froze, her cheeks turning slightly red. “I’ll be more mindful in the future, but.”
Before she could finish, Vincent interrupted her. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now.”
With that, he strode off without sparing her another glance. Alina stared at his retreating figure, lost in thought. After a moment, she sent a message on her phone and left as well. She needed to figure out what had happened over the past few days and why Vincent had changed so drastically.
Vincent returned to the villa.
The cold and empty home brought back memories of when Kaylee was still there. Whenever he came back, Kaylee would excitedly run to the door, eager to share what she had done that day, what delicious food she had eaten, or what had upset her.
Now, the house was silent and lifeless.
It was silent.
Over the past few days, he had searched everywhere he could think of but found no trace of her.
“Kaylee, where are you?”
He sat on the couch, staring at the empty room, and murmured to himself, “I know I was wrong this time. Please, give me another chance. I promise I’ll cherish you.”
But the empty house offered no response. Kaylee had vanished from his world without a trace. Even now, he couldn’t believe that Kaylee had truly left him.
They had promised to marry after graduation. So why, now that she had graduated, was she nowhere to be found?
Buzz-
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. Vincent pulled it out..
It was a call from his lab partner, Thiago.
“Vincent, why haven’t you been to the lab these past few days? The professor sent you several messages, and you didn’t reply. Are you so caught up with little Kaylee that you lost track of time?– ”
The lab had long been aware of Vincent and Alina’s interactions.
At first, it was just teasing when people referred to Alina as “little Kaylee,” but neither Vincent nor Alina denied it. Over time, everyone assumed they had something between them. But Vincent’s expression turned icy.
“What do you mean, ‘little Kaylee“? Kaylee is my only girlfriend. Stop saying nonsense.”
Thiago was stunned. “Didn’t you dislike Kaylee and plan to be with Alina?”
Vincent shot back, “Who told you that?”
“Everyone saw it. It’s obvious you like Alina. Didn’t you two just go to Disneyland together a few days ago? Kaylee had been asking to go for so long, but you never took her. Isn’t that proof enough?”
