Chapter 14

Knock knock knock-

The door was knocked on, and Kaylee heard her mother’s lowered voice from outside.

“Kaylee, are you awake?”

Kaylee had already been awake for half an hour, and she quickly went to open the door.

“Mom, what’s wrong?”

Margot entered, followed by a group of ten or so attendants, each holding a luxurious gown and matching high heels.

Margot also took out a box and handed it to Kaylee. “This is the new phone I bought for you. I’ve already taken care of the SIM card and everything.”

“And here’s the evening gown I prepared for you tonight. Take a look and see which one you like.”

“You can change into it, and we can head downstairs for the banquet.”

Kaylee took the phone. “Thank you, Mom.”

She glanced at it and saw that it was a limited edition Vitu Cobra. Then, among the gowns, she chose the most understated mermaid–style dress. The gown was designed in a mermaid style, with a sparkling hem that shimmered like sunlight on the surface of the sea.

When Kaylee put it on and stepped out of the room, Margot froze for a moment. The people around them gasped in admiration. With the flowing skirt, she looked like a mermaid princess emerging from the deep sea. Noble and elegant. –

She squeezed her hand to comfort her. “Don’t worry, you don‘ need to do anything tonight, just stay with me If you get tired, you can come back.”

After saying that, she took Kaylee to a room at the end of the hall to have her hair set. The stylist and makeup artist worked quickly, finishing all the details in less than half an hour.

Kaylee stood there, wearing a crown and a flowing gown, like a princess straight out of a fairytale. Margot’s eyes were filled with surprise as she looked at her, and then she took her downstairs to the banquet.

As they reached the bottom of the stairs, they ran into Arthur, who was heading upstairs.

When he saw Kaylee, he froze for a few seconds. “Mom, is this really my sister? She looks too beautiful!

Margot shot him a look “Who else would it be, if not your sister? Tonight, she’s the grand finale. Of course, she’s going to be the most beautiful.”

Arthur didn’t say anything more, but there was a glint of pride and admiration in his eyes, if he had just discovered a rare treasure. When the three of them finally arrived at the banquet, the noisy hall fell into complete silence.

All eyes were on them, with most of the attention focused on Kaylee. She was so beautiful that it was impossible to look away. People were even afraid to speak loudly, worried they might disturb the princess who seemed to have stepped out of a fairy tale.

Even Robert, who had been mingling with others, felt a surge of pride when he saw hist daughter. Not only in Italy, but anywhere in the world, she would be one of the most inning women.

He walked over to his family and led them to the center of the stage.

He tapped the microphone and took his daughter’s hand. “Tonight, I’m hosting friends and media from all walks of life to share some important news.”

Immediately, the crowd began murmuring. Robert raised his hand to quiet them.

He held up his daughter’s hand. “Half a month ago, I found my daughter, who I’ve been searching for for over ten years.”

“She is my long–lost daughter–Kaylee, the beloved daughter of the Anderson family!”
