Finally We Got Lost - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
“Dad, Mom, this must be my sister, right?”
Suddenly, a pleasant male voice rang out from nearby, and the three who had been embracing slowly pulled apart. Mylee turned to look, and the man was gazing at her as well.
His eyes were full of warmth, his features naturally sharp, with deep brows, a high nose, and thin lips. He resembled Robert by about seventy percent. He must be her biological brother–Arthur Anderson.
“Brother?”
She called out uncertainly.
Arthur walked toward them, smiling. “I can’t believe you recognized me.”
He then explained why he hadn’t appeared earlier: “I’ve been abroad, managing the family business. I’ve been so busy that I couldn’t make it back in time to come with Mom and Dad to pick you up. I hope you’re not upset with me for not being there as your brother.”
Kaylee shook her head. “It’s fine. I’m just happy that Mom and Dad came to get me.”
Half a month ago, when Margot gave Arthur her Whatsapp, she had already known. Her brother was very busy, constantly flying abroad. After adding each other on Whatsapp. They only exchanged a few messages.
His Instagram was full of work–related posts. Robert and Margot barely got to see their son. But Robert, ever the businessman, immediately inquired about work matters. “Have you taken care of things in Australia?”
“When did you get back? Didn’t you say you couldn’t make it today?”
“Don’t worry, everything’s sorted out.” Arthur looked at his long–lost sister with affection. “Kaylee is my family too. How could I miss such an important day?”
When Kaylee was lost, he had been studying at a bilingual school abroad. When he returned for the holidays, he heard the news about his sister’s disappearance,
He had been heartbroken for months, and as he grew older, he joined his parents in searching for her, but to no avail. Now that his sister was finally back, how could he miss this moment? With that thought, he pulled out a gift box and opened it to reveal a necklace.
“First meeting gift for my little sister.”
Kaylee looked at the necklace, a Russian sapphire Devant–De–Corsage worth tens of millions. The diamond necklace was composed of 22 sapphire–encrusted diamond links, with a flexible diamond flow. The connected elements could also be worn as a brooch.
She hesitated for a moment, wanting to decline because it seemed too extravagant. But seeing the expectant eyes of Arthur and her parents, she smiled and accepted it.
“It’s really beautiful. Thank you, Brother.”
Margot, ever thoughtful, helped her try it on, and couldn’t help but praise, “Your brother’s taste in gifts has improved a little. This necklace really suits you.”
“Mom, when has my taste ever been wrong?” Arthur couldn’t resist arguing.
Margot gave him a pointed look, signaling him to understand on his own.
Although both Robert and Arthur were successful CEOs, their gift–giving was strictly based on “manly” preferences. The presents they had chosen for Margot in the past were… well,
Out of ten gifts, eight were just awful. Watching the playful banter between her parents and Arthur, Kaylee couldn’t help but laugh. After exchanging a few more words, Margot suggested Kaylee rest for a while.
“Kaylee, how about you take a break? You’ve been on the plane for seven or eight hours, and tonight you still have the banquet to attend.”
She was concerned for her daughter’s well–being, having noticed Kaylee yawning several times. Robert and Arthur didn’t object.. Kaylee was indeed tired, so her mother took her to her room. The moment her head hit the pillow, she fell fast asleep.
Margot returned to the room, intending to give her a few more instructions, but when she saw Kaylee already asleep, she carefully tiptoed out. Kaylee slept soundly through the night.
The room was pitch–black when she woke up. She turned on the lights and was momentarily stunned by the luxurious decor. Then she realized that she was in Italy with her parents.
Looking at the opulent surroundings, she felt like she was dreaming. But this wasn’t a dream. She had truly become a princess!
