Cursed with the Imposter Wife - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Through gritted teeth, Joel said, “Haley Stockwell is a fraud. She acted all sweet and innocent with me, but in reality, she was a vicious and depraved woman. Out of jealousy, she even attacked the wife of my employer, nearly disfiguring her!”
He continued, “After being exposed, she didn’t reflect on her actions. Instead, she harassed me at my home and workplace with her gang. I must’ve been blind to agree to marry her in the first place.
“I’ve already filed a police report and turned in all the evidence. I believe justice will be served, and she’ll face the consequences of her actions.”
The interview flipped the narrative entirely.
Before I could take any action, netizens had already dug into Haley’s history. They exposed all her lies.
In the process, her friends‘ scandals were also brought to light. Their entire social circle experienced a fall from grace. Now, they were labeled as opportunistic women who climbed their way up through questionable means. Overnight, they became the internet’s most hated group.
One of Haley’s closest lackeys, who was already engaged and planning her wedding, had her engagement called off because of the exposé. Devastated, she went to Haley, begging her to explain the situation and clear her name.
But Haley, who was already preoccupied with her own troubles, snapped, “You’re nothing but a gold–digging slut! How am I supposed to clear your name? Get lost and stop bothering me!”
Shocked and enraged, the woman pushed Haley off the fourth floor before jumping after her. The woman died on the spot. However, Haley survived, though she was left paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
My expression didn’t even shift when I got the news. I instructed my lawyer, “Keep on seizing Haley’s assets. I don’t care whether she lives or dies. She’ll repay every penny she owes me.”
The lawyer nodded and carried out my orders.
Left with nothing, Haley resorted to streaming on online platforms, where she begged for donations. She became a real–life internet panhandler. Her streams were watched only by those looking to mock her misery.
But she never uttered a word of complaint. Plastering on a forced smile, she pleaded for more tips. Even so, a portion of her monthly earnings was seized to repay her debt to me.
A few years later, unable to endure the misery any longer, Haley wheeled herself to the rooftop and threw herself off.
This time, she was gone for good.
Evil deeds always came with consequences. It was only a matter of time.
