Chapter 22
Chapter 22 His Lifelong Partner
“What’s with the deed?” Yolanda texted Brent right away.
“You saw it?” he replied quickly.
“What’s going on?”
“It’s just a response.”
“I saw my name on the deed. When did the villa get transferred to me?”
“The day you agreed to marry me, I asked Caiden to prepare the contract to transfer it to you. Remember the time you got drunk and asked him to pick you up? He had you sign the prepared contract. But you’ve probably forgotten about it.”
Seeing his reply, she recalled carefully and then remembered something. Caiden had handed her a stack of papers and asked her to sign in the designated spot.
It was actually a property transfer contract?
“You didn’t discuss it with me, and I never agreed to this!” she texted, tapping the screen with great force that it was about to crack.
“Did I have to discuss it with you?”
“Didn’t you?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Mr. Odom, what do you take me for?”
“My wife.”

“No. I feel like a commodity with a price tag!”
“Are you mad?”
“Does a commodity have the right to get mad?”
Brent didn’t reply to her.
She collapsed back into bed. After she took a few deep breaths, the doorbell rang. She went downstairs to open the door, only to see Antwan standing outside with a long face.
“What’s up?” she asked.
He took a deep breath. “Jaslyn and my mom are back. They’re fine.”
“I know they’re fine. Why would I throw away my entire future just to poison them?”
“You should have ignored those online comments.”
“The only reason you’re saying this is you weren’t the one being criticized. Oh, no, wait. That’s not right. It’s because Jaslyn wasn’t the one being criticized.”
He ran his fingers through his hair irritably. “Still, you shouldn’t have posted a fake property deed. If the real owner sees it, you might get sued.”
“Fake? You think it’s fake?”
“Obviously.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“The owner’s surname is Patton. Don’t tell me he’s your fiancé.”
“Who my fiancé is has zero business with you. Go back to be your
precious princess’s simp!”
Already furious, Yolanda was even more pissed off by Antwan’s crazy accusations. After saying this, she turned around and went back inside.
“I’ll buy you a villa. Move there,” Antwan suddenly said.
“You’ll buy me a villa? Seriously, who are you?”
She scoffed and decisively closed and locked the door, shutting him out.
As she went back upstairs, her phone buzzed a few times. Figuring it might be Brent, she took a deep breath to calm down and then took out her phone.
He had sent her several messages already.
“I’m sorry for not considering your feelings.”
“But it didn’t mean disrespect. From the moment you agreed to marry me, I’ve been carefully finding a way to get along with you. I never mean to upset you or make you feel uncomfortable.”
“I guess I messed up anyway.”
“I thought couples build trust by sharing everything between them, and that’s why I’m willing to put my money and villa in your hands.”
“That’s how marriage works, right? When two get married, they become
one.
“Yolanda, from the second you agreed to marry me, you’re my wife, my lifelong partner.”
Yolanda was stunned by his confession. She thought their marriage was more of a formality, and if things didn’t work out, they’d get a divorce. But here he was, saying she was his lifelong partner.

“Don’t be mad at me. Teach me, OK? I learn slowly, but I’ll pick up. I’ll learn earnestly how to love you.”
He even said he’d learn how to love her.
As she read his messages again and again, she felt her heartstrings being tugged at. She had no idea he treated their relationship so seriously and sincerely, which moved her and made her feel a bit guilty.
She had to admit her agreement to marry him was partly due to spite. She wanted to show Antwan that beside him, there was someone who wanted to marry her.
She needed a fiancé, and who it was wasn’t relevant. And the same went for Brent.
She thought it was fair and never truly committed to being Brent’s fiancée, whereas he, on the contrary, had been a perfect fiancé since the beginning
“It’s my fault,” she texted him back. After pondering for a few seconds, she added, “I need some time to adjust to the role of Brent Odom’s wife.”
“I’ve been doing OK with the role of Yolanda Nielsen’s husband,” he replied.
She chuckled. “Are you up yet?”
“I’m booking a flight back.”
“You’re coming back?”
“Yes. I’m coming back to beg you not to get mad at me.”
Yolanda was stunned again. He was rushing back just because she was upset with him?

“No need. I’m not mad anymore.”
“I’ll come back as soon as I can.”
“OK.”
After chatting with Brent, Yolanda went online to look at the deed he had posted. Jaslyn’s fans had already flooded in and attacked him harshly, claiming that he was a loser who lied about being Yolanda’s fiancé and pretended to be a rich guy. They said he didn’t even know how much a villa in CloudSea Villas cost and mocked his clumsy lies.

Yolanda tagged Brent and posted, “Waiting for you to come home.”
Her post was concise, yet it was already enough to do the trick.
The next day, she went to Antwan’s villa to work. By the time she stepped inside, Danielle was already making breakfast.
“Let me help,” she said while rolling up her sleeves.
“Not a good idea, Ms. Nielsen. Mrs. Navarro says you’re not allowed to set foot in the kitchen again,” Danielle said with a lingering fear.
She shrugged. “What should I do then? Clean?”
“Sure.”
She nodded and walked to the living room. Looking around, she fixed her gaze on the deer–shaped floor lamp by the TV wall. Antwan had bought it at a high price, saying it was art.
She walked over and pushed it to the floor.
The floor lamp instantly shattered into pieces.
Hearing the loud noise, Antwan and Jaslyn came downstairs. Upon seeing

the mess, they looked over at Yolanda at once.
“Yolanda, this is so out of the line!” Jaslyn fumed.
Yolanda spread her hands. “It was an accident.”
“Do you really have to be like this?” Jaslyn said.
“You wanted me to be your maid, right?” Yolanda retorted.
Pulling a long face, Jaslyn looked at Antwan. “Antwan, she did it on purpose.”
Antwan rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Yolanda, from now on, you don’t have to do any chores. Just check on Jaslyn’s health when she doesn’t feel well.”
“Oh, really? Then please address me as Dr. Nielsen from now on,” Yolanda said.
“Dr. Nielsen.” Antwan gritted his teeth. “Happy now?”
She nodded and then looked at Jaslyn. “Ms. Peterson, as your personal physician, I feel obliged to remind you something. Fewer schemes during your pregnancy. Focus solely on getting ready to give birth.
“Call me if you need anything.”
With that, she turned around and left.
The second she stepped out of Antwan’s villa, she was in a much better mood. She had always thought more compromises meant less trouble, but since they got carried away, she might as well counterattack.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Gemma.
“Yola, come and pick me up at the door. The security wouldn’t let me in!”
