Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Chapter 21 The Deed

When it was dinner time, Kiersten arrived. Seeing Yolanda preparing in the kitchen, she sneered, probably thinking Yolanda, always the stubborn one, had yielded.

“Some people are born to serve,” she smirked.

She said this to Danielle while intending for Yolanda to hear. Danielle pulled a long face at once and came into the kitchen to help Yolanda while ignoring her.

“Ms. Nielsen, you’re a doctor from a famous hospital, and you’re knowledgeable, pretty, and charming enough. But you should work on your taste in men,” Danielle said indignantly.

Yolanda was making soup. Hearing this, she smiled, “It was a silly mistake I made in the past.”

Danielle sighed, “Mr. Navarro and you have already broken up, and neither of you owe each other anything. How could they bully you like this?”

Yolanda said, “Chill. Bullies all end up miserably.”

After dinner was ready, Kiersten helped Jaslyn downstairs, followed by Antwan. When sitting down, Kiersten pulled Jaslyn to sit next to her.

“Jaslyn, how are you feeling today?”

After a few seconds of hesitation, Jaslyn replied, “I threw up twice.”

“Why? Was the food not to your liking?”

Jaslyn didn’t say anything, whereas Kiersten had instinctively assumed who was responsible for it.

“Yolanda, you better serve Jaslyn well. No funny business is allowed. If you upset her, I won’t pay you a penny.”

Yolanda placed a pot of stewed beef on the table and said, “I don’t want your money anyway.”

“Did you hear that? She indeed has an agenda!” Kiersten turned to Jaslyn at once. “Why did you have her here? What if she takes the chance to hit on Antwan? You can be so naive sometimes, Jaslyn.”

Jaslyn said in a small voice, “I trust Antwan.”

“How could you trust a cheater?” Kiersten said unhappily.

“Mom!” Antwan frowned. “Just eat. OK?”

Kiersten cleared her throat. “Anyway, I don’t trust Yolanda here.”

Putting soup on the table, Yolanda said, “Then why don’t you persuade Antwan to fire me?”

Kiersten retorted, “How about you stop latching onto him first?”

“Antwan, did I latch onto you?” Yolanda asked.

Antwan’s expression was dripping with irritation. “Eat!”

Pissed off, Kiersten snorted and put some beef on Jaslyn’s plate.

Having learned her lesson, Jaslyn didn’t eat. Instead, she placed some stewed lamb on Kiersten’s plate.

Kiersten didn’t think much of it. She praised Jaslyn for being considerate and ate, and seeing she didn’t have much reaction, Jaslyn started to dig in.

After serving the dishes, Yolanda went back to the kitchen and cleaned up together with Danielle.

Danielle was about to wash the pot when she saw an opened packet of white powder with only a tiny bit left. Puzzled, she picked it up.

“What’s this, Ms. Nielsen?”

Yolanda said, “Rat poison.”

“W–What?”

“Rat poison,” Yolanda repeated.

Danielle’s gaze fell on the pot as she thought of something, her face turning pale at once. “D–Did you put this in the soup?”

In the next second, Kiersten in the dining room said, “The soup tastes funny. Well… It’s nourishing. Eat more, you two.”

“Don’t eat it!”

Danielle ran out at once. Upon seeing the three all held bowls, she screamed, “It’s poisoned!”

“What are you talking about?” Kiersten frowned.

“I’m serious! Ms. Nielsen put rat poison in it!”

“What?”

“Rat poison!”

A loud, crisp sound rang out.

Kiersten dropped her bowl to the floor and stood up, terrified. “I–I’ve

already eaten a whole bowl…”

With that, she bent down and clawed at her throat, trying to puke.

Since Jaslyn had eaten a few spoons of the soup, she did the same.

Antwan looked at Yolanda, only to see her laugh out loud while leaning against the kitchen door.

She met his gaze and grinned.

Taking a deep breath, he said, “She didn’t poison the soup.”

But Jaslyn and Kiersten didn’t dare to believe his words and continued to gag.

“My stomach hurts!”

Clutching her abdomen, Kiersten was utterly frightened. “Danielle, call the cops! No, wait… Call the ambulance first!”

No matter what Antwan said, Kiersten just wouldn’t believe him. Even though Yolanda clarified later, saying she didn’t do anything, Kiersten still insisted.

At last, the ambulance arrived. Grabbing Jaslyn with one hand and Antwan with the other, Kiersten wanted them to accompany her to the hospital, but since Antwan wouldn’t, she could only take Jaslyn with her.

When Antwan came back to the villa, Yolanda was eating at the dining table.

“The stewed beef I made is amazing. Want some more?” she invited him sincerely.

Antwan didn’t have a proper meal for a day, and his stomachache flared up again.

“If you pull a stunt like this again, I swear you’ll lose your parents‘ house.”

She looked up calmly. “Antwan, enough is enough. If you push me to the limit, believe it or not, I will poison all of you the next time.”

Antwan looked at her in silence. For some reason, he was upset–how did things between them end up like this?

Yolanda went back home. Right after she lay on the bed, Kaylen called her, saying Jaslyn had gone to the hospital again and had been spotted by stalker fans, who spread rumors about her having a miscarriage.

Then Yolanda told her about being Jaslyn’s maid and cooking for Jaslyn.

Kaylen burst into laughter after hearing the whole thing, clutching her belly.

“Serve them right! Good for you, girl!”

Yolanda said, “I doubt if they’ll ever let me cook again.”

“Hats off!”

Then Kaylen shared some latest gossip with Yolanda, saying, “Someone says you’re still pestering Antwan. Jaslyn stumbled upon you two and got too worked up, which is the reason for her miscarriage.”

“That’s rich.”

“If the villa you live in is rented, you can post the lease, which will shut them up.”

“I won’t prove myself every time they say something about me. It’s not necessary.”

After hanging up the phone, Yolanda went online. Sure enough, Jaslyn’s fans were attacking her, saying she was a scheming phony, forcing

Antwan to buy her a villa after breaking up with him, and the villa was facing his marital home with Jaslyn.

Some even posted photos of her in the villa area, saying she had been remodeling her villa lately, which was clearly saying she was going to haunt Antwan forever. Some even commented straightforwardly, “Yolanda is a shameless bitch!”

Yolanda had thought she’d be calm, but these harsh words still got under her skin.

As she was about to toss her phone away, she suddenly saw a comment. “Yolanda’s fiancé has just trended. He posted the deed to her villa; it’s actually in her name.”

She was stunned for a second before checking the trending topic list.

Seeing the one with her name, she clicked on it and indeed saw the deed with her name.

The caption was, “My fiancée chose not to respond because she values decency. But some exploited her kindness and falsely thought they could push her around. But she’s not alone. I’m with her.”

The IP address showed the person who posted this was in Peprenia. Was it Brent?
