Begged All You Want, But You Will Never Have Me Back - Chapter 8
Silence. Nathan and Amelia stood frozen, their faces pale. No one had dared to move while everyone whispered and stared at me.
They hadn’t expected this. They had come to the banquet thinking they could smooth things over, that Nathan could beg his way back into my mother’s good graces, that Amelia could manipulate her way out of trouble. But now, the truth was undeniable. I wasn’t just some discarded wife.
I was Entice Johansen, heir to the Johansen Empire.
Nathan recovered first. He stepped forward, his expression shifting from shock to something softer–pleading.
“Entice,” he started, his voice low, careful. “I didn’t know. How did this happen? You’re the heir and then–okay, I made mistakes. I—“
I held up a hand, stopping him. “It’s too late.“
He flinched.
I turned to the crowd, my voice carrying through the grand hall. “From this moment on, the Johansen Group is officially cutting all investments in Silverfang Industries. Our partnership is over.“
A wave of murmurs swept through the room. Investors exchanged glances, whispers of Nathan’s downfall already beginning.
Amelia scoffed. “That’s ridiculous.” She rolled her eyes. “You don’t even know anything about business. You-”
A sharp slap echoed through the hall. Amelia gasped, holding her cheek.
My mother stood before her, fury burning in her eyes. “That,” she said coldly, “is for hurting my daughter, you bitch.“
Amelia staggered back, stunned. “You-“
Before she could react, the grand doors swung open. Police officers strode inside.
The room went still.
“Amelia Carter?” one of them said, stepping forward. “You are under arrest.“
Gasps filled the banquet hall.
Amelia’s face drained of color. She turned to me, then to Nathan. “Wait–what? For what?“
She laughed, uneasy. “This is about the misunderstanding at the store, isn’t it? I already apologized. I was wrong, I-“
I shook my head. “It’s not about the bracelet.“
Amelia blinked. “Then what-”
I stepped closer, my voice ice–cold. “It’s about the accident. The one that made me deaf. The one you caused. Do you really that I wouldn’t do something about it? That you’re gonna free for the rest of your life. Well, you were wrong! Rot in jail!“
Her mouth opened. Closed.
Then she spun to Nathan, her panic growing. “You said-“
Evidence was laid out before her. Witness statements. Old reports. Surveillance footage. Everything she thought had been buried.
Amelia stumbled back. “No–no, this can’t be happening–my career! Nathan! What is this?”
Nathan’s face was unreadable, but his hands clenched at his sides. “Amelia… I don’t know.“
I smirked. For the first time, I knew Nathan was torn between choosing me and Amelia. He was aware that I was no longer no one, nothing.
She turned to him, desperation in her eyes. “Do something!“
Nathan took a step back.”
Her breath hitched. “Nathan?”
He shook his head. “I–I didn’t know-“
Her expression twisted into pure rage. “You knew! You married her to keep her quiet! You knew!“
She lunged at him, but the police grabbed her arms, restraining her.”
“No! You can’t do this!” she screamed, thrashing as they cuffed her hands. “Nathan! Help me!”
He just stood there. Amelia’s screams echoed as she was dragged away.
Nathan barely breathed. “This can’t be happening…”
He turned to me, eyes pleading. “Entice–please- I’m sorry! It was my mistake. I learned now and I’m letting you take her away. Can you-
I met his gaze. Unmoved.
“This is exactly what should happen, and cut it. This is the last time we’re going to see each other again, Nathan.“
And then I turned away.
After what happened, the news spread instantly.
Amelia Carter Arrested–Silverfang Empire in Crisis!
Nathan Silverfang’s Betrayal Leads to Business Collapse.
The Rise of Entice Johansen–The Woman Who Took It All Back.
For days, reporters camped outside the Johansen estate, waiting for a statement. But I was done talking. I do not owe them any explanation. It was up to me. What was important was I ruined them.
For days, reporters camped outside the Johansen estate, waiting for a statement. But I was done talking. I do not owe them any explanation.
It was up to me. What was important was I ruined them.
Nathan, however, wasn’t. He was desperate. The Silverfang name was tarnished beyond repair. It cannot be saved. Just like Amelia.
And so, he begged. He called. He sent messages. He tried to arrange meetings.
I ignored every single one. Then, one evening, I stepped out of the estate and saw him.”
Nathan. He was standing outside the gates, drenched in the pouring rain. His suit was soaked, his hair clinging to his face.
The great Nathan Silverfang–reduced to a man begging in the storm.
I walked past him, heels clicking against the pavement. No more love, only hatred.”
His voice cracked. “Entice–please-“
I didn’t even look at him. He had left me drowning once. Now, I was the one watching him fall.
The next morning, I heard the news.
Nathan had collapsed outside the estate and had been rushed to the hospital.
I took a sip of my coffee, my expression unreadable.
Then, with a smirk, I sent him a single gift. A bouquet of black lilies. And a note.
“It’s too late to beg now.“
