Begged All You Want, But You Will Never Have Me Back - Chapter 7
The cold metal chair felt unforgiving beneath me. The harsh fluorescent lights buzzed overhead.
I was in a police station. For something I didn’t do. The officer across from me leaned forward, arms crossed. “Miss Ford, just admit it. We have a witness. The bracelet was found in your bag.“
I met his gaze, unwavering. “I didn’t steal anything. I was set up.“
Amelia sat nearby, fake concern plastered all over her face. “Why are you lying, Entice?” she said sweetly. “We all saw it. You took my bracelet.”
“I didn’t.”
“But there’s proof,” she insisted, shaking her head as if disappointed. “I even have witnesses.”
I clenched my fists. The setup was flawless. She had played her part perfectly, pretending to be the victim. But it was okay, sooner she will regret it as right now my bodyguards were calling my mother.”
The officer sighed. “If you don’t cooperate, we’ll have no choice but to proceed with your arrest.”
The moment he reached for his cuffs, the door to the interrogation room swung open.
A deep voice cut through the tension.
“Who the hell dared to touch my future wife?“
Silence. I turned, eyes widening. Xavier Esralde stood at the entrance, exuding power and dominance. Dressed in an immaculate suit, his presence alone made the room shrink.
Oh, what a grand entrance. I smirked. I didn’t expect him to come but this was an indeed perfect opportunity that would make Nathan furious. My mother was so witty for sending Nathan first.
The officers stiffened. Nathan, who had been leaning against the wall, pushed off immediately. “What do you mean future wife? And what are you doing here?“
Xavier smirked, stepping closer. “Exactly what I said.”
His sharp gaze flickered to Amelia. “Entice is my fiancée. And there’s no way she would steal something as insignificant as a bracelet.“
The entire room was frozen while I tried to hide my smirk. I knew for a fact that this news would ruin his ego. After all, Nathan had hated Xavier ever since and knowing I was going to marry Xavier, then it would mean he had lost to him.
Nathan’s expression twisted. “That’s a lie.”
“Is it?” Xavier’s smirk deepened. “Because unlike you, I actually know her worth.“@
Amelia, growing frustrated, crossed her arms. “This isn’t about her personal life. I have proof she stole from me.“
Xavier didn’t even blink. “Then let’s see it.”
The officer hesitated before playing the supposed surveillance footage that Xavier had brought since they told me that there was no footage a while ago.”
The screen lit up with the store’s security camera footage. At first, it showed me browsing, minding my business.
Then, a brief moment where someone had ‘accidentally‘ bumped into me. And then–her slipping something into my open bag. This was after my confrontation with Amelia. She wanted to ruin me!
A collective silence filled the room.
Amelia’s face paled.
Xavier exhaled, amused. “Well, well.” He turned to the officers. “I assume we’re done here? The girl had confirmed you told her to do that so there was no question. The one you need to put inside the detention cell is that woman.”
The officer cleared his throat. “Miss Ford, you’re free to go.”
“Yeah, I should.” I grinned and stared at them. “I hope this won’t happen again because you’d realize you pick a fight with the wrong woman.“
Nathan and Amelia had barely processed the fallout when another officer rushed in. “Sir, you need to see this.”
A tablet was shoved onto the desk, displaying a rapidly trending video. There, the timing I was waiting for.
It was a compilation–Nathan’s betrayal, Amelia’s scandals, and now, the setup attempt, even his illegal dealings. People already knew this but I just added real evidence to make sure of his downfall, including Amelia’s. Now is the start of my revenge!!
Amelia gasped. “Who–who leaked this? You, fucking bitch!”
Nathan’s phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, his face going ghostly white.
Xavier chuckled. “Let me guess–bad news?”
Nathan gritted his teeth, fingers tightening around his phone.
A message from his secretary glowed on the screen:
Johansen Group is pulling out their investment. Effective immediately.
His empire was crumbling. He and Amelia bolted out of the station, desperate to salvage what was left of their reputation.
But the moment they stepped outside- Cameras flashed. Reporters swarmed.
Too late. The world had already turned against them.
By morning, the headlines were everywhere.
Nathan Silverfang’s Downfall: From Business Tycoon to Scandal Magnet.”
Amelia’s Career in Ruins After Attempting to Frame Esralde’s Fiancée.
Who is Entice Johansen? The Woman Who Outsmarted Them All.
But this wasn’t just about revenge.
This was about claiming my rightful place. Tonight, at the Johansen banquet, I would do exactly that.”
The banquet hall was dazzling. Crystal chandeliers. Golden decor. Every elite figure in the country gathered under one roof, eager to witness history unfold.
Nathan was there. Amelia too. Despite their public humiliation, they had come. Nathan, no doubt, was desperate to salvage what little dignity he had left. He thought he could still negotiate with my family.
How foolish. The whispers started as soon as I arrived.
The grand doors opened, and all eyes turned toward me.”
I walked in, arm–in–arm with Xavier Esralde. Gasps rippled through the room.
I was no longer dressed as the silent, timid wife of Nathan Silverfang. I wore a Johansen heirloom–a diamond necklace passed down through generations, proof of my rightful place in the family.
Nathan’s face drained of color. Amelia’s nails dug into his arm. The realization hit them all at once.
I wasn’t just here as a guest. I was the main event.
Then, my mother stepped forward, her voice commanding the room.”
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Eleanor Johansen announced, “I present to you my daughter, Entice Johansen. The heir to the Johansen empire.“
The applause was deafening.”
Nathan and Amelia stood frozen, powerless as the world shifted without them.”
And I?
I just smiled.
