Becoming a Wolf Queen - Chapter 14
Rook suddenly appeared in front of me and Ari one afternoon.
What a surprise.
His chin had stubble, and he had dark rings below his eyes. Even his usually tidy collar was a mess.
He looked like he had not slept for days. When Rook spoke, he sounded hoarse.
“Rhea, I’m sorry. I was wrong. Ari, can I hug you?” He reached out to Ari.
However, Ari, who had received so much love during this time, quickly hid behind me. “I don’t like you.”
The look in Rook’s eyes dimmed. He suddenly bent his knees and knelt in front of me.
“Can you give me another chance, Rhea? I know I’ve hurt you before and believed that Ari was someone else’s child. I was so stupid! —- “
“It’s only now that I realize I’ve always loved you. It’s because I care too much about you that I can’t bear the thought of you having a child with someone else.”
“If you’re willing to come home, I promise to love you properly. The three of us can live our days happily.”
Rook humbly said nice things to me. He had done this in my dreams before. If this were half a month ago, I would be touched and tear up at his words.
However, even the most brilliant purple violet would one day wilt. It was all over now.
I smiled softly and said in a carefree manner, “Rook, if you’ve ever really loved me, you wouldn’t have thought I was joking when I said I wanted to leave you.”
“It’s true that I’ve once loved you. I was even prepared to sacrifice half of my life, but everyone has dignity and self- love. No one would tolerate you hurting them forever.”
“I’ve come to realize that Ari and I have a better life without you.”
Rook looked up. He acted like he had just been tortured. He moved forward on his knees.
“Rhea, please…” I frowned with contempt and took a step backwards.
However, I still decided to ask Ari’s opinion. “Ari, do you want to leave with your father?”
Ari shook his head with conviction. “No! I like Mommy, Grandpa, and Grandma!”
Rook’s eyes widened in despair. “Send the guest off,” I instructed a servant to kick him out.
“I’m in a hurry. I still have a billion-dollar contract to negotiate.”
The servant snuck a laugh. “Yes, Your Highness.”
Rook vanished from my life just like that. I focused on expanding the Heavenly Wolf Pack and building a network with other packs.
Our allies kept expanding as well.
My highly efficient management skills enabled every pack to complement each other. Our food products, population, and wealth grew exponentially.
I was able to win the support and love of every pack with —- Adrian’s help and became the newest queen of the pack alliance.
My coronation as queen was held a year later. That was when the newest Alpha from Moon Shadow Pack came to me with the news.
Rook had lost interest in managing Moon Shadow Pack and was kicked out of his position by his citizens.
Sera was filled with disdain for him and told him the truth.
Anna was not his daughter.
Rook could not take the blow. He became crazy and turned into a rogue and wandered everywhere.
I swirled the red wine in my hand and smiled brightly.
“What an interesting story, but what has it got to do with me?”
I had removed myself from another person’s story and lived as a legend.
