The surgery goes well.

When I wake up, everyone’s nice to me. They’re all in my room.

“I bought you a piano, and hired a therapist so we can all figure out what’s really going on.”

Dad speaks. Chad says his hair is pink, which is the worst.

Mom tries to convince herself to feel bad for her and not Brittany. Carter doesn’t say anything, but stays close to me.

They all want me to be myself again. They’ll always protect me. They’re all looking at me.

It’s like I’m dreaming.

I smile, not refusing, not accepting. You can’t forgive everyone that easily.
