After I Stopped Loving Him, He Lost His Mind - Chapter 7
After that, the situation only escalated. But I no longer had the strength to care.
I was at the point where I couldn’t sleep through the night anymore. One morning, I woke up with a nosebleed that wouldn’t stop. No amount of makeup could hide how pale and gaunt I’d become.
Unsurprisingly, I missed the release of another video online–an exposé on Chloe.
It revealed the full truth: everything had been orchestrated by her.
She had staged the entire story, resurfacing now because she couldn’t stand to see me doing well. She also couldn’t let go of the wealthy, powerful Jack Sullivan.
Even Emily’s presence had been part of her plan. Years of waiting had finally given her a chance to reconnect with Jack.
But in her eagerness, she’d slipped up, and someone had exposed her.
In the leaked footage, Chloe was seen ranting, her face twisted with rage as she stabbed her finger at a photo of me. Her voice was venomous and full of malice.
Apologies flooded the internet after that, but I never saw them. They were far too late.
With my makeup perfectly done, I looked almost as radiant as I once had. But the exhaustion in my eyes was impossible to hide.
Before visiting my parents‘ graves, I decided to return something to Jack–the wedding ring that had bound him for so many years, along with the title of “Mrs. Sullivan.”
When I arrived at Jack’s office, he was in a meeting. I refused the secretary’s offer to fetch him and chose to wait in his office instead.
Oddly, the secretary wasn’t Emily.
The thought flashed briefly through my mind, but I brushed it aside. Perhaps Jack had decided to let her rest. It wasn’t my place to care anymore.
When Jack finally walked in and saw me, his face lit up for a moment before quickly hardening into his usual cold expression.
“Taylor…you…” He hesitated, clearly unsure of what to say.
I didn’t give him the chance to continue. I cut him off and explained why I was there.
What I didn’t expect was for Jack to explode with rage.
His eyes were filled with pain as he shouted, “Why? Is it because I haven’t apologized enough? I’ve already ordered flowers and gifts–I was planning to bring them home tonight!”
“I know I hurt you, but I’ve been trying to make things right. Can’t you give me one more chance?”
His voice grew more desperate as he stepped closer, pulling me into a tight embrace. I could hear the regret in his tone.
“I’ve cut ties with everyone you didn’t like. I even fired Emily. Why can’t you let this go?”
I didn’t understand his sudden change in behavior, but I handed him the divorce papers and the ring.
“I don’t care who you’re with, Jack. You can be with them forever, for all I care. Just sign this.”
Jack stared at the papers, his fists trembling. Then, with a shout, he knocked them out of my hand, his entire body radiating pain and frustration.
Grabbing my shoulders, he shook me violently, his voice breaking.
“Why are you so heartless?”
The commotion outside fell silent as his voice echoed through the office.
The old me would’ve cared about the scene we were making. But now, I couldn’t feel anything anymore.
The shaking only made my already fragile body weaker. My pale complexion turned ashen, and blood dripped from my nose onto his hands.
Jack froze, his eyes wide with fear. Gently, he carried me to the couch, his hands trembling as he called for help.
“Get an ambulance! Now!” he roared at the secretary who had rushed in.
I wanted to apologize to the poor secretary, but I was too weak. My body felt like it was falling apart, and I could only lean against Jack to stay upright.
He held me tightly, his shirt stained red with my blood. His hands shook so badly that he struggled to dial the phone.
“Why won’t it stop? Why?” he muttered, his voice cracking. “Taylor, I won’t let anything happen to you!”
