I held the bubble tea in my hands, sitting on the back of Mia’s little electric scooter as we puttered slowly through a forest of crimson maple leaves.
Our destination was the small lake at the end of the path, our secret hideaway.
The stray cats we used to feed there had all been adopted, leaving the place quieter than before.
I sat on a large rock by the lake, leaning against Mia’s shoulder, my heart filled with a sense of peace and contentment.
